Two flights carrying 33 Gujarat natives deported from the United States for illegal stay landed at Ahmedabad airport from Amritsar on Monday, officials said.

They were part of a group of 112 Indians who arrived in India aboard a U.S. military aircraft that landed at Amritsar airport late on Sunday. With their arrival, the number of Gujarat residents deported from the U.S. since February 6 has reached 74.

“Upon arrival at Ahmedabad airport, the 33 deportees, including children, were transported to their respective hometowns in Gujarat in police vehicles,” said Airport Police Station Inspector S.G. Khambhla.

Three of them—two from Mehsana and one from Gandhinagar—arrived around noon, while the remaining 30 landed on another flight at approximately 2 p.m., he added. Police vehicles were stationed at the airport to facilitate their transport.

Earlier, on February 16, a flight carrying eight deportees from Gujarat—part of a group of 116 Indians sent back from the U.S.—landed at Ahmedabad airport from Amritsar. They were promptly taken to their hometowns in police vehicles.

Similarly, on February 6, a flight carrying 33 Gujarat natives among 104 Indian deportees arrived at Ahmedabad airport. They were transported to various locations, primarily in Mehsana, Gandhinagar, Patan, and Ahmedabad districts.
