In a significant move, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio extended support to India amid escalating tensions with Pakistan and called for immediate steps to de-escalate the situation. The US outreach statement came shortly after Pakistan reportedly opened fire across the border in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), resulting in a sharp response from India. The US State Department issued a statement restating its position against terrorism. ”The Secretary reiterated his condolences for the horrific terrorist attack in Pahalgam and reaffirmed the United States’ commitment to work with India in the fight against terrorism.”

Meanwhile, according to an ANI report, defence forces reported that Pakistan has launched eight missiles targeting locations such as Arnia, RS Pura, Samba, and Satwari. All of these missiles were successfully intercepted by Indian air defence units. Explosions were also reported in Udhampur as Indian forces intercepted Pakistani drones. Officials have compared the pattern of drones to Hamas-style rocket attacks on Israel.
