The appointments come after Congress secured an impressive victory in Telangana, bagging 64 out of the 119 seats while the party’s pre-poll ally CPI bagged one seat. Two days after the results were declared on Sunday (December 3), the AICC leadership named Revanth Reddy as the leader of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) and the next chief minister of Telangana. Revanth Reddy won from the Kodangal seat, while he was defeated and finished third in the Kamareddy constituency. Revanth Reddy will be the first Congress Chief Minister of Telangana, which the party-led UPA government helped create in 2014. Reddy was an easy choice for the Congress with a majority of the newly-elected MLAs favouring him.
