Counting of votes for the five states that went to polls (Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Mizoram and Telangana) will be held on December 3 to decide the fate of 2,290 candidates in fray. The predictions come as a setback for Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, or KCR, who has banked on the development work and welfare measures undertaken by his government in the last five years. In the elections held in 2018, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (earlier called Telangana Rashtra Samithi) won 88 seats in the 119-member assembly, while the TDP-Congress alliance bagged 21 seats in total. The India Today-Axis My India exit poll shows that the Congress may have received 42 per cent of the votes polled while the BRS is likely to settle with only 36 per cent of the votes. The BJP is likely to finish third with a vote share of 14 per cent, according to the survey.

Polling concluded peacefully in the 13 assembly segments affected by Left Wing Extremism (LWE) in Telangana at 4 PM on Thursday. 51.89 per cent votes were cast by 3 PM in the total 119 constituencies in the state. While polling was to conclude at 4 PM in the LWE-affected constituencies, those who were in queue at closing time were allowed to cast their vote.
