A new bench of the Supreme Court will hear on October 3 former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) supremo N Chandrababu Naidu’s plea for quashing the FIR against him in the alleged multi-crore Skill Development Corporation scam case.
The latest development followed after Justice SVN Bhatti Wednesday recused himself from hearing it.
Following this, senior advocate Siddharth Luthra, appearing for the TDP leader, rushed to a bench headed by Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud.
The bench, also comprising Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra, said that the matter will be listed before an appropriate bench on Tuesday.
Earlier, on Sunday, a local court in Vijayawada had extended TDP chief’s judicial remand in the case till October 5, following the expiry of judicial remand and police custody. The order came after interrogation by a team of Andhra Pradesh Police CID officials ended its two-day interrogation in connection with the case at the Rajamahendravaram Central Prison.
On September 9, Naidu was arrested for allegedly misappropriating funds from the Skill Development Corporation, which resulted in a purported loss of over Rs 300 crore to the state exchequer.
