The assembly elections in Bihar are about two months away. Political rallies by NDA and INDIA bloc have become common events in the state. Amid the ongoing political state of affairs, Congress on Friday defended the AI-generated video showing a conversation between PM Narendra Modi and his late mother.
The AI-generated video, posted on Bihar Congress’ official X account, shows a character looking like Modi going to bed saying, “I’m done with today’s ‘vote chori’, now going to sleep.” As he dozes off, a woman resembling his late mother appears in his dream, scolding him for allegedly exploiting her name for political gain.
The clip’s Hindi caption translated to “‘Ma’ appears in Sahab’s dreams. Watch the interesting dialogue”. The video drew an immediate and strong response from the BJP.
Congress defends the AI video
According to a report by News18, the Bihar unit of Congress has started an internal investigation on how the video was posted on X. The video has not been taken down from its account at the time of filing this report.

Congress leader Pawan Khera has defended that video and said, “Where is the disrespect shown to his late mother? Show me one word, one gesture, anywhere where you see disrespect. It is the duty of the parents to educate their children. She is only educating her child and if the child thinks that it is disrespectful towards him, it is his headache not mine not yours. Why does the BJP try to make an issue out of everything and try to generate fake sympathy?”
“Mr Modi cannot do a ‘touch me not’ politics, he is in politics and he needs to take everything, even a sense of humour of the opposition properly and actually there is no humour in it, there is ‘naseehat’ in this,” he added.
BJP slams ‘disguiting’ video by Congress
The BJP accused Congress of mocking Modi’s late mother under instructions from Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi. “Far from having remorse, Congress is defending its previous abuse of the Prime Minister’s mother and has now crossed all limits with this disgusting video,” BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala said.
Last month, the Congress had already faced criticism after a local supporter allegedly used abusive language against Modi’s mother during a ‘Voter Adhikar’ rally. BJP leaders argue the new video is part of a pattern of personal attacks.
While no official schedule has been announced by the Election Commission for the state polls, they are expected to take place some time in the second and third week on November.
