Banks in Haryana have sanctioned 11,118 working capital loans amounting to Rs 2,892 crore till December 2009 since announcement of the Indian Banks Association (IBA) package in December 2008.

Stating this at the 110th meeting of the State Level Bankers? Committee held in Chandigarh, Nagesh Pydah, executive director of Punjab National Bank said the progress made by the banks under the special package of IBA is being reviewed regularly.

Banks have also sanctioned enhancements in the existing 2,928 accounts to the tune of Rs 1,170 crore up to December 2009 since announcement of the IBA package.

About 1,580 accounts have been restructured by banks for an amount of Rs 482 crore up to December 2009 (December 2008 to September 2009).

Speaking about the implementation of the electronic benefit transfer scheme in Haryana, Pydah said state government and the banks acted in a cohesive manner and approved the scheme for implementation on a pilot basis in five districts by adopting ?One District One Bank? approach.

He appreciated the proactive approach of the government specially for agreeing to pay 2% fee and quick action taken by the convener bank in perfect coordination with the respective banks for finalising the modalities of the scheme.

He called upon the controlling heads of respective banks to implement the scheme quickly so that its benefits reach the beneficiaries in an effective manner.
