The minor accused of killing two persons in a fatal crash in Pune on May 19 has successfully completed a 15-day safe driving program, as required by the court, according to a Regional Transport Office (RTO) official.

The incident, which occurred in Pune’s Kalyani Nagar, involved the minor driving a Porsche under the influence of alcohol, resulting in the deaths of two IT professionals from Madhya Pradesh.

The case drew significant national attention, partly due to the accused receiving bail from the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) under what many considered lenient conditions, and allegations of attempts by the accused’s family and some medical professionals to cover up the incident.

As part of his bail conditions, the juvenile was required to complete a safe driving program, write a 300-word essay on road accidents, and receive instruction on traffic rules and regulations from the RTO.

“The juvenile accused completed the safe driving programme with the RTO. With respect to the guidelines of the court, the operation was kept discreet as it could have led to issue of privacy of the juvenile,” a top RTO official said.

The safe driving program covered key aspects such as road safety measures, the importance of a driving license, and understanding road signals and symbols, including practical on-field training.

The minor has also submitted the required 300-word essay, officials confirmed.
