Janata Dal (Secular) leader Suraj Revanna, brother of former Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna who is facing charges of sexual abuse by multiple women, alleged that a man is threatening to falsely accuse him of sexual assault.
A JD(S) supporter and his relative have been booked for allegedly attempting to extort money from party MLC Suraj Revanna, son of Holenarasipura MLA H D Revanna and the elder brother of Prajwal Revanna.
The complaint, lodged by Suraj Revanna’s close aide Shivakumar on Friday, led to an FIR against Chethan K S and his brother-in-law. In a counter complaint the same day, Chethan accused Suraj Revanna of sexually assaulting him.
According to Shivakumar’s complaint, Chethan initially befriended him and joined the ‘Suraj Revanna Brigade’. Recently, Chethan allegedly demanded money from Shivakumar, citing family expenses.
When Shivakumar refused, Chethan reportedly threatened to accuse Suraj Revanna of sexual assault, initially demanding Rs 5 crore, later reducing it to Rs 2 crore.
Police have registered a case against Chethan and his brother-in-law under IPC sections 384 (extortion), 506 (criminal intimidation), and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention).
