Jalgaon Local Body Election Results 2025 LIVE: Maharashtra went to the local body polls twice in December – first on December 2 and the second 18 days later on December 18. The counting of the votes for the Maharashtra local body 2025 started at 10 am on December 21, and the results will be announced once that is completed.

In the first phase, elections were held for 264 municipal councils and nagar panchayats. The second phase covered 24 such bodies, along with 154 wards in 76 other local bodies across the state.

Votes will be counted for 246 municipal councils and 42 nagar panchayats, and the results for all these local bodies will be declared at the same time.

Both the BJP, led by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, and the Shiv Sena, headed by Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, have been campaigning aggressively for their own parties despite being part of the ruling alliance.

Maharashtra Local Body Election 2025: Mahayuti partners locked horns

The Mahayuti partners – BJP and Shiv Sena – clashed in several districts, including Sindhudurg, Satara, Dharashiv, Palghar and Thane. In contrast, the two rival NCP groups – led by Ajit Pawar and Sharad Pawar – joined hands in Kolhapur, while in select areas, Congress factions supported BJP candidates.

Maharashtra has more than one crore registered voters for the local body elections in the state. This includes 53.79 lakh men, 53.22 lakh women, and 775 transgender voters.

Polling for 29 Municipal Corporations in Maharashtra, including the Brihanmumbai and Pune Municipal Corporations, will be conducted on January 15, with vote counting slated for the next day, the State Election Commission said.

"The people of Maharashtra have given BJP a thumping majority. In the municipal corporation elections, the BJP has won 125 to 130 bodies on its own, and the Mahayuti has won more than 215 out of 288 bodies. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis thanked the people of the state on Sunday evening as the Mahayuti edged towards a sweeping win.

"I had already predicted that out of all the municipal council chairpersons elected, 75% would be from the Mahayuti, and the people have delivered exactly that verdict. It has also become clear that BJP is the number one party. So far, around 129 municipal council chairpersons have been elected from the BJP. Together, all three alliance parties account for 75% of the city council chairpersons," he said.

Maharashtra BJP leader Keshav Upadhye claimed on Sunday that the BJP had taken an early lead in most areas. The state election commission is yet to announce the official results of the polls to the posts of president and members in 286 municipal councils and nagar panchayats in Maharashtra.

He claimed that the ruling party had established a lead in 18 out of 49 seats in north Maharashtra. The Shiv Sena was ahead in 11 and the NCP in seven, while the Congress was leading in five seats, Sena (UBT) in two, the NCP (SP) faction in one, and others in five seats.

Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde claimed the Mahayuti had crossed the 200-mark in polls to 286 local bodies. He reiterated that “BJP had scored a century” while Shiv Sena notched a “half century” and emerged as the second-largest party in the state.

Jalgaon Local Body Election 2025 Results Live Updates: Which party won how many seats?

The BJP dominated Vidarbha with 58 seats, followed by the Congress with 23, while the Shiv Sena won eight, the NCP seven, and others secured four seats.

In Marathwada, the BJP led with 25 seats, the Shiv Sena won eight, the NCP six, the Congress and UBT four each, the Pawar faction two, and others three.

North Maharashtra saw the BJP win 18 seats, followed by the Shiv Sena with 11, the NCP with seven, the Congress with five, UBT with two, the Pawar faction one, and others five.

In Western Maharashtra, the BJP secured 19 seats, the Shiv Sena 14, the NCP 12, the Congress three, UBT one, the Pawar faction four, and others seven.
