Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday, accusing him of showing favoritism towards industrialist Gautam Adani while neglecting victims of landslides in Wayanad.
Speaking at a public meeting in Mukkam, alongside his sister Priyanka Gandhi, Rahul alleged that Modi was treating Adani leniently despite allegations against him in the US He claimed that Modi’s actions go against the Constitution’s principle of equal treatment for all.
“PM Modi says Adani is not guilty in India, even though he is accused in the US This is unfair,” Rahul said. He also accused the government of not giving enough help to the people affected by landslides in Wayanad.
Rahul and Priyanka paid tribute to the landslide victims and promised to stand by the affected families. “We may not be in power, but we will pressurize the Kerala government to support you,” Rahul said, urging Congress and UDF members to push for relief efforts.
Priyanka Gandhi, now an MP from Wayanad, received praise from Rahul, who advised her to stay connected with the people. “Listen to their problems and be guided by their needs,” he said. Rahul assured the crowd that he would continue to support them as their “unofficial MP.”
Priyanka’s victory in Wayanad came with a massive margin of over four lakh votes, surpassing Rahul’s win in the general election. Both leaders expressed confidence in defeating the BJP and upholding the Constitution.
