Coldplay generated a massive buzz in India with their five concerts in Mumbai and Ahmedabad. The British band added to the excitement by live-streaming their final concert, which took place at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium on Republic Day, January 26.

The performance captivated audiences, and a day later, Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the event, highlighting that it demonstrated India’s “massive scope” for live concerts. He noted that it also signaled the growing attraction of India for global artists.

During the concert, Coldplay not only performed their hit songs but also engaged with the crowd and paid tribute to the country by singing iconic patriotic tracks such as Maa Tujhe Salaam and Vande Mataram.

In a message during the Utkarsh Odisha – Make in Odisha Conclave 2025, PM Modi said, “You must have seen fabulous pictures of Coldplay concert organised in Mumbai and Ahmedabad. It shows that India has a massive scope for live concerts. Big artists from around the world are attracted towards India… I expect the state and the private sector to focus on needed infrastructure and skills.”

Coldplay surpasses Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift, Michael Jackson and others

Coldplay’s Indian tour began in Mumbai on January 18, with additional performances on January 19 and 21. The band went on to set a record at their Ahmedabad concert, drawing over 2.5 lakh attendees, including 1.7 lakh visitors from outside Gujarat, on January 25 and 26.

With over 134,000 people in attendance, Coldplay’s final concert at the Narendra Modi Stadium became the largest-ever concert in India, surpassing the attendance records of global superstars like Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, Justin Bieber, Madonna, and even Michael Jackson. The venue’s capacity of 132,000 helped the band achieve these remarkable figures, making it the highest-attended concert in the country’s history.
