The Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha adjourned sine die on Thursday, a day ahead of schedule, after both the Houses passed the landmark Women’s Reservation Bill with absolute majority.
The 261st session of the House began on September 18. It was scheduled to conclude on September 22 but was adjourned a day in advance, PTI reported.
The Lok Sabha adjourned sine die on September 21 night after a marathon discussion on the success of the Chandrayaan-3 session.
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla said that the Special Session or the 13th session will be recorded as a “historic session” in history as Parliament started a new journey from the new Parliament building, PTI reported.

He informed the House that the session had four sittings which lasted for about 31 hours. And the House recorded a productivity of 160 per cent, he added.
The House also had a discussion on 75 years of Parliamentary journey after it was initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the first day. The discussion lasted for 6 hours and 43 minutes, with 36 members participating in it.
In the Rajya Sabha, the 128th Constitution (Amendment) Bill, referred to as the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, was passed by the House with all 214 MPs present voting in its favour.
The Upper House also passed a resolution on ‘India’s glorious space journey marked by successful soft landing of Chandrayaan-3’.

During the brief session, the Upper House also discussed the ‘Parliamentary journey of 75 years from Samvidhan Sabha – achievements, experiences, memories and learnings’.
Notably, before the special session of the Parliament commenced, an official statement chalked out the agenda of the special parliament session. The statement mentioned the Chief Election Commissioner and other Election Commissioners (Appointment, Conditions of Service and Term of Office) Bill, 2023 as part of the agenda.
However, it was not taken up for discussion during the Special Session.
