The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday arrested a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel in Delhi for allegedly leaking sensitive national security information to Pakistan intelligence officers.
Identified as Moti Ram Jat, the accused was found to have been involved in espionage activities since 2023, the agency said. According to an NIA spokesperson, Jat had been “actively sharing classified information related to national security with Pakistan Intelligence Officers (PIOs)” in exchange for money sent through various channels.
He was produced before the Special Court at Patiala House and remanded to NIA custody until June 6 for further interrogation. The NIA is currently questioning him as part of an ongoing investigation.
CRPF officials said Jat’s activities came to light during routine monitoring of social media in collaboration with central agencies. Upon confirming that he had violated service norms and protocols, he was dismissed from service with effect from May 21 under relevant constitutional and CRPF rules.
“He was handed over to the NIA for further investigation,” a CRPF official said, adding that the force is committed to upholding national security and taking strict action against any breach of duty.
