Political strategist-turned-politician Prashant Kishor, head of Jan Suraj, has set off a storm in Bihar ahead of the 2025 Assembly elections with a string of sensational allegations against Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary and JD(U) minister Ashok Choudhary.

At a press conference, Kishor not only defended himself against questions on funding but also revealed that he earned ₹241 crore over the past three years from his political consultancy work. He detailed sources of his income, the taxes paid, and donations made, while accusing top Bihar leaders of corruption and criminal charges.

Allegations Against Samrat Choudhary

Kishor alleged that Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary is accused in six murder cases, including the infamous Tarapur case (No. 44/1995). He demanded his immediate dismissal and arrest. “Samrat Choudhary talks about corruption and ‘jungle raj’, but he himself is facing charges of multiple murders. Such a person should not hold high office,” PK said.

He linked Choudhary’s name to the Shilpi Gautam rape and murder case, asking whether the Deputy CM had been investigated by the CBI and subjected to forensic sampling. Kishor added that if Prime Minister Modi does not act, his party will move court.

Allegations Against Ashok Choudhary

PK also escalated his attack on minister Ashok Choudhary, raising questions about the Vaibhav Vikas Trust, which he said received nearly ₹100 crore since the engagement of Ashok Choudhary’s daughter. He demanded transparency on how such huge funds were raised and how large tracts of land were purchased in the past year.

He further alleged that Ashok Choudhary was taking a 5% commission on contracts worth over ₹20,000 crore, pointing to the recent incident where an engineer was caught burning cash at home as evidence of kickbacks. “If he does not resign within five days, we will launch protests and approach the Governor. Otherwise, he will face a defamation notice of ₹500 crore,” Kishor warned.

Political Shockwaves

The allegations have triggered political tremors in Bihar, with demands for accountability from the ruling coalition. Kishor’s press conference, coming just months before the Assembly elections, has raised the stakes and deepened the debate on corruption and governance in the state.
