A heart-rending incident emerging from Maharashtra reportedly showed a restaurant employee being beaten up at his place of work. The merely seconds-long video, now gone viral on social media, is enough to raise the hair on the back of your neck. First reported by NDTV, the mortifying visuals are believed to have come in from the state’s Pandharpur town.

It remains unclear when and where the said controversial video was captured, a stripped-naked restaurant employee is seen standing in the middle of the scene. Others wearing resembling uniforms, possibly his colleagues, were seen lined up behind him as another man is pictured beating the worker with a pipe.

“Who do you think you are? What did you do?,” the man believed to be the restaurant owner is heard speaking in Marathi, as per NDTV’s quotes.

The man being beaten was seen wincing in pain. While on the verge of tears, he walked off camera. The alleged restaurant owner then gestured him to come back to the spot. In a humiliating display of power, he repeatedly banged the pipe on the floor, signalling the victim to return.

Social media up in flames about the Maharashtra restaurant owner’s allegedly assault video

Netizens on X stopped in their tracks as the chilling video triggered shockwaves on the platform. Although not heavily reported on so far, some people have already raised the issue with the officials. One such user, tagged the official account of DGP Maharashtra in a tweet, sharing NDTV’s post. Some other also called on Maharashtra’s Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Mumbai Police, the Commissioner of Police, Greater Mumbai, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, and BJP Maharashtra.

Regardless of what caused the purported restaurant owner to viciously assault the employee, people are already viewing this as the worst-possible instance of workplace harassment.

The NDTV report suggested that the police had already taken cognisance of the video, but no arrests were made at the time of writing. More details are awaited on the issue.
