Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday spoke about the significance of the upcoming Maha Kumbh Mela 2025, calling it an important cultural and spiritual event. He mentioned that this year’s Kumbh will be even bigger and more impressive than before. “The Maha Kumbh Mela has taken its shape, and preparations are moving quickly. People are very excited. This Kumbh Mela is happening after 144 years, and both India and the world are eager to witness this grand gathering,” he said.

The Maha Kumbh Mela will take place in Prayagraj (formerly Allahabad), Uttar Pradesh, from January 13 to February 26, 2025.

In a conversation with ANI, Chief Minister Yogi shared updates on the preparations. “This time, we are building 30 pontoon bridges, and 28 of them are already complete. The remaining two will be ready in the next few days. We are also preparing a temporary ghat (riverfront) that will stretch for 12 kilometers. So far, more than 7,000 organizations have registered, and over 1.5 lakh tents are being set up for visitors,” he said. He emphasized that preparations are progressing rapidly and there is great enthusiasm among people for this event.

Earlier, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visited Prayagraj to review the progress of the Kumbh Mela preparations. This was his fifth visit to the city in December alone. During the visit, he also inaugurated a Bio-CNG plant in the Naini area of Prayagraj. He inspected several important locations, including the Sangam Erawat Ghat and the newly constructed steel bridge near the Ganga Setu.

In addition, Yogi Adityanath held a review meeting at the Integrated Command and Control Centre to discuss the final arrangements for the Kumbh Mela. He also checked the routes and infrastructure related to the event.

The Chief Minister has invited key dignitaries, including President Droupadi Murmu and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, to attend the Kumbh Mela.

The main bathing events, called “Shahi Snan” (royal baths), will take place on January 14 (Makar Sankranti), January 29 (Mauni Amavasya), and February 3 (Basant Panchami).

For security, Uttar Pradesh Police will use underwater drones during the event.

The Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 will also celebrate India’s cultural diversity. From January 10 to February 24, the Uttar Pradesh Culture Department will organize folk art performances across the city. There will be 20 small stages set up at key locations in Prayagraj, where visitors can enjoy various traditional dance forms from different states of India.
