BJP leader and Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini is leading over Congress candidate and incumbent MLA Mewa Singh in the early counting trends. However, Saini is in for a challenging contest against Singh. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has also entered the race with its candidate, Joga Singh.

The political history of the Ladwa constituency adds an intriguing backdrop: while Congress won in the 2019 elections, the BJP claimed victory in 2014, and the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) won in 2009. This seat, part of the Kurukshetra parliamentary constituency, was previously held by Mewa Singh of the Congress party.

Ladwa is characterised by a significant population of Jats, along with notable numbers of Dalits and OBCs, including Sainis. In the 2024 Assembly elections, 16 candidates contested for the Ladwa seat. The constituency gained prominence with Nayab Singh Saini’s entry, following his replacement of Manohar Lal Khattar as Haryana’s Chief Minister; Khattar now serves as the Union Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs.

Voting for the 90-seat Haryana Legislative Assembly took place in a single phase on October 5, recording a voter turnout of 65.65% as of 11:45 PM, according to the Election Commission. In Kurukshetra district, the voter turnout was approximately 66.36%.
