Akhilesh Yadav himself has triumphed thrice from the Kannauj constituency, a domain previously held by his father. He maintained this grip from 2000 to 2012 until assuming the role of CM. His wife, Dimple Yadav, then effortlessly secured victory in a bypoll in 2012 and reclaimed the seat in 2014, only to concede it to Subrat Pathak in 2019.
