The intelligence agencies have put border states on alert after they found that a group of terrorists from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) is set to infiltrate into Bangladesh, which is a joint effort of both Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), reported IANS. The group, on the directive by the top brass of the Lashkar-e-Taiba, is likely to reach Bangladesh to train others, the agency said, quoting an Intelligence Bureau official said.

The agencies have been working on the information about the two terror organisations and their modules that are believed to be re-activating in West Bengal and the northeastern states. The groups are reportedly sending explosive experts to Bangladesh, suggesting that there is something big they have planned. The agencies, hence, are on alert.

ISI-backing terror groups in Bangladesh

The news agency said the intelligence has put the border areas on high alert as there could be attempts to infiltrate into India and carry out bomb blasts, an official was quoted as saying. Indian agencies have the information regarding ISI-backed activities in Bangladesh, and the recent movements establish these intel inputs.

ISI has reportedly given a directive leading to the joint work by JeM and LeT for something big against India. IANS report mentioned that the top brass of both terror groups met in Pakistan and discussed how they would go forward under one command structure. A nine-member team was assembled to train operatives in Bangladesh, and the intention is to carry out serial blasts in India.

Multiple teams of JeM and LeT have been to Bangladesh, which has the regime inclining towards Pakistan. Most wanted terrorist, Hafiz Saeed recently had his close aide in Bangladesh meeting with local terrorists. The idea was to motivate them, the report added.

Planning in final stages

The intelligence agencies believe the planning of Pakistan backed JeM and LeT is in its final stages, with Hafiz Saeed, chief of the Lashkar-e-Taiba, scheduled to visit Dhaka and interact with both terrorists of his group as well as others.

Saeed’s visit could be the last step in the entire planning, the agency said. It added that sleeper networks in the northeastern states and West Bengal has also been activated, giving a clear sign that a big strike is being planned. Several madrasas in Bangladesh have also been temporarily shut down recently, hinting at some other major activity.

All these are ISI-run madrasas where the preachers are from the Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed. Some of them had come up with a specific intention to carry out serial blasts in India. Now that the planning is in the final stages, these madrasas have been temporarily closed, the agency added.
