The swearing-in ceremony was held at the Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC) in Srinagar, with Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav in presence. The oath of office and secrecy to Abdullah was administered by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.
This is going to be Omar Abdullah’s second stint as the head of the Jammu and Kashmir government. The National Conference contested the Assembly elections in alliance with the Congress party. The alliance zoomed past the majority mark of 46 in the 90-seat Assembly as the NC secured victory ion 42 seats and the Congress on 6 seats. This majority has further been strengthened by the support of four Independent MLAs and one CPI(M) legislator.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday said that to avoid inconvenience to the people, there will be no 'green corridor' for him while he moves by road.
Less than three hours after taking charge, Abdullah posted on X, "I have spoken to the DG @JmuKmrPolice that there is to be no 'green corridor' or traffic stoppage when I move anywhere by road. I have instructed him to minimise public inconvenience & the use of sirens is to be minimal."

After taking oath as Jammu & Kashmir Deputy CM, Surinder Kumar Choudhary said," I have no words to thank our leaders Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah for giving such a big position.
