Despite the BJP achieving an all-time high of 29 seats in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections, state president Ravinder Raina was unable to retain his Nowshera assembly seat in Rajouri district. Leader M.Y. Tarigami has won the Kulgam Assembly seat in Jammu and Kashmir for the fifth time, defeating former Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI) member Sayar Ahmad Reshi by a margin of over 7,800 votes. Tarigami received 33,634 votes, while Reshi garnered 25,796 votes, securing his victory with a margin of 7,838 votes.

Omar Abdullah has been announced as the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir by his father and National Conference president, Farooq Abdullah, as the party appears set to return to power in the union territory alongside its ally, the Congress party.
"Omar Abdullah will be the chief minister," Farooq Abdullah stated to reporters when asked about the alliance's CM candidate. He emphasized that the election results demonstrate the public's opposition to the abrogation of Article 370.
The people have given their verdict and shown that the decisions made on August 5, 2019, are not acceptable to them, he said. I am thankful to everyone for their participation in the polls and for doing so freely. I am grateful to God for the results.
The former Union minister added that the newly elected government will have significant work ahead to alleviate the sufferings of the people. We must tackle unemployment and address pressing issues like inflation and the drug menace. Now, there will be no LG and his advisors; instead, there will be 90 MLAs working for the people, he noted.
National Conference (NC) leader and former minister Sakina Masood has won her third assembly election from the D H Pora seat in Jammu and Kashmir. She defeated her PDP rival Gulzar Ahmad Dar by over 17,000 votes. Masood, also known as Sakina Itto, secured 36,623 votes, which is 17,449 votes more than Dar's total of 19,174. Former minister Abdul Majeed Padder came in a distant fourth with only 2,974 votes. This marks Itto's third victory from this constituency, formerly known as Noorabad, which was redrawn and renamed following the delimitation exercise after the elections of 1996 and 2008.
Omar Abdullah of the NC-Congress alliance has won the Budgam seat by a margin of 18,485 votes.
Satish Kumar Sharma of the BJP has won the Billawar seat by a margin of 21,368 votes. His victory reflects the party's strong support in the area and adds to its overall success in the elections.
