Operation Sindoor 2.0: Facing close scrutiny from netizens following Pakistan Defence Minister Khwaja Asif‘s blatant statement regarding their drone attack in certain parts of India yesterday. The contradictory and puzzling statements amid rising India-Pakistan tensions claimed that they avoided shooting down Indian drones to conceal their locations. Asif’s vague remarks, “it’s too chemical for me to explain” quickly turned heads on social media.
However, this is not the first time Asif’s statement has gained attention. In a recent SkyNews interview he accepted how their actions was the “dirty work” of western countries. His admission was widely interpreted as an indirect confirmation of Pakistan’s longstanding ties with non-state actors, particularly in the Afghanistan-Pakistan border region. The statement added fuel to international concerns over Pakistan’s dual approach, officially supporting anti-terror coalitions while allegedly offering safe havens to terrorist groups.

He also spread misinformation about India’s Operation Sindoor, falsely claiming the downing of Indian jets. Following the operation that took out nine terrorist camps in certain regions of Pakistan, his statement “it’s all over social media” shook his position’s credebility with a detrimental effect. He was quickly shut down by the interviewer, “I’m sorry, we didn’t ask you here to talk about social media content.”
Launched on May 7, Operation Sindoor was followed by the Pahalgam terror attack. While acknowledging the need to eradicate terrorism, another statement by Pakistan’s Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar contradicted Asif’s claims as he said how “there are no terrorist camps in Pakistan.” Further, he said that “Pakistan is the victim…and is a guarantor of world peace.” Calling India the agressor behind Operation Sindoor, there were certain efforts made by Pakistan yesterday in Jammu, in retaliation.
The unprovoked attack was met with India neutralising the drones as an immediate response. However, Pakistan’s several assets near Lahore having been attacked.
