Indore Constituency Election Result 2023: Vote counting in Indore 1 has completed, with BJP candidate Kailash Vijayvargiya marking a crucial moment by securing over, 1,50,000 votes. The elections were held on November 17. The BJP was aiming for a resurgence in the Indore 1 constituency, while the Congress was striving to maintain its hold. The major parties, BJP and Congress, dominating the electoral landscape, fielded their strongest contenders for this urban seat. BJP had nominated its national general secretary, Kailash Vijayvargiya, to challenge the Congress incumbent, Sanjay Shukla, in a bid to unseat him from the Indore 1 seat.
BJP’s Kailash Vijayvargiya won from the Indore 1 Assembly constituency by clinching 1,58,123 votes. Congress candidate Sanjay Shukla lost by a margin of 57,939 votes.
Indore 1 is Assembly/ Vidhan Sabha constituency and is a part of the larger Indore Lok Sabha constituency. Indore 1 is one of the assembly segments within the Indore Lok Sabha constituency, situated in the Indore district of the state. Caste equations significantly influenced the candidates’ fate in this constituency, predominantly urban and dominated by the Brahmin and Yadav communities, constituting 3.64 lakh voters. With Vijayvargiya, a stronghold in the Indore region from the Vaishya community, and Sanjay Shukla, a Brahmin, both contenders put up a fierce fight for the seat.

The political landscape has witnessed swinging contests over the years. In the 2018 elections, the constituency saw a 64.60% voter turnout, with 225,604 valid votes cast out of 349,102 registered voters. Sanjay Shukla emerged victorious by a narrow margin of 8,163 votes, securing 114,555 votes (50.24%), while the runner-up, Sudarshan Gupta of the BJP, secured 106,392 votes (46.66%). In 2013, the BJP clinched power in the constituency with Sudarshan Gupta securing the win with 99,558 votes (52.33%), defeating independent candidate Kamesh Khandelwal, who obtained 45,382 votes (23.86%) by a margin of 54,176 votes.

As per the latest trends of EC, BJP's Kailash Vijayvargiya has taken massive lead securing 73,226 votes for the party, Sanjay Shukla trails with 44,636 votes.

Congress leader Mahesh Paramar after taking blessings at Mahakal temple said, “With the blessings of Baba Mahakal, the ‘jungle raaj’ in Madhya Pradesh will end this time, and a Kamal Nath-led Congress government will be formed in the state”.
In the Indore-1 assembly, Scheduled Caste (SC) voters total approximately 37,610, representing roughly 10.89% based on the 2011 Census data. Simultaneously, Scheduled Tribe (ST) voters in the same assembly amount to around 6,424, accounting for approximately 1.86% as per the 2011 Census figures. There are no recorded rural voters in this assembly, making up 0% based on the 2011 Census data. Urban voters constitute the largest portion, with approximately 345,360 individuals, representing the entirety (100%) according to the 2011 Census statistics.
Congress leader Jitu Patwari on vote counting said, "The kind of 'Tandav' the BJP had created by tearing apart the dignity of democracy, created a market of MLAs the country has seen. After all these circumstances, people have suffered the pain of inflation, unemployment, and diseases...The kind of chaos they have created in the country is about to end.."
