The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a forecast indicating a moderate risk of flash floods in specific watersheds and neighborhoods within the Assam districts of Karimganj and Cachar, as well as in the regions of east and west Khasi Hill, Jaintia Hill, and South Garo Hill.

Additionally, according to the meteorological department, there are expectations of substantial rainfall in isolated areas of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal, while the southern interior of Karnataka is likely to experience thunderstorms and lightning.

The Met Office said that the conditions are favorable for the Southwest Monsoon to withdraw from various regions in the next 48 hours. This withdrawal is expected to encompass East Uttar Pradesh, East Madhya Pradesh, and certain parts of Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Maharashtra, and the Central Arabian Sea.

Lastly, in Central and West India, there are no significant weather events expected over the next five days.

Region-wise rainfall warning 

In Northeast India, the weather forecast for today has predicted light to moderate rainfall in many areas, with isolated heavy rainfall expected along with thunderstorms and lightning in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya. Additionally, on October 8th, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura, experienced similar weather conditions with a subsequent reduction in rainfall. 

Moving to East India, on October 9, light to moderate rainfall is anticipated in numerous locations, accompanied by isolated heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and lightning, particularly in Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, with a subsequent decrease in precipitation.

In South India, from October 8-11, light to moderate rainfall is expected in some places, with isolated heavy rainfall along with thunderstorms and lightning forecasted for Tamil Nadu. During October 8-10, a similar weather pattern is projected for South Interior Karnataka, and from October 9-12, Kerala is likely to experience similar conditions.

In Northwest India, light rainfall is predicted at certain locations, with isolated thunderstorms and lightning in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand today.
