India has struck 9 terror sites in Pakistan and ‘justice has been served’, announced India after it retaliated to the Pahalgam terror attack.

The Indian Armed Forces announced early Wednesday that they had conducted targeted strikes against multiple terror-related locations in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The operation, codenamed ‘Operation Sindoor’, was initiated to address the infrastructure from which attacks against India have been allegedly planned and executed.

In a statement released at 1:44 am, the Indian Army stated that the strikes were “focused, measured and non-escalatory in nature.” The Army emphasized that the actions were specifically aimed at terrorist infrastructure and that “no Pakistani military facilities have been targeted.” The statement further highlighted India’s “considerable restraint” in the selection of targets and the method of execution.

Pakistan vows retaliation

According to Pakistan Army spokesman Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, the Indian military action involved missile strikes in the areas of Kotli and Muzaffarabad in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, as well as Bahawalpur in the Punjab province of Pakistan.

Speaking to ARY News, the Pakistan Army spokesman described the Indian action as a “cowardly and shameful attack” that was reportedly carried out from within India’s airspace. He asserted that Pakistani air force jets were airborne and stated unequivocally, “Pakistan will respond to this at a time and place of its own choosing. This heinous provocation will not go unanswered.”

The Indian military action comes two weeks after the devastating terror attack in Pahalgam, which resulted in the deaths of 25 Indian citizens and one Nepali national. The Indian Army’s statement directly linked ‘Operation Sindoor’ to this incident, affirming, “These steps come in the wake of the barbaric Pahalgam terrorist attack.”

The Army further stated, “We are living up to the commitment that those responsible for this attack will be held accountable.” Sources familiar with the matter indicated that India’s top military leadership was closely monitoring the operation.

Earlier, on April 29th, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a high-level meeting with top defense officials, where he reportedly granted the armed forces “complete operational freedom” to determine the manner, targets, and timing of their response to the Pahalgam attack. During that meeting, Modi also underscored the nation’s resolve to deliver a “crushing blow to terrorism.”
