The Indian Air Force on Saturday strongly refuted claims made by Pakistan and Chinese media that an Indian S-400 air defence system stationed in Adampur, Punjab, was destroyed by hypersonic missiles launched from Pakistan’s JF-17 fighter jets.

According to reports aired by Pakistan’s state-run broadcaster PTV and carried by China’s Xinhua news agency and Global Times, the Pakistan Air Force used hypersonic missiles from JF-17 Thunder aircraft to destroy India’s Russian-made S-400 air defence installation.

“These reports are false,” a spokesperson of the Indian Air Force said, calling the allegations baseless and misleading. The official clarified that no such strike had taken place and that India’s defence systems remain fully operational and on high alert.

The S-400, procured from Russia, is among the most advanced air defence systems in the world and plays a critical role in India’s military preparedness. Adampur air base, located in Punjab, is one of the Indian Air Force’s strategically important bases, given its proximity to the border.

The Indian military has urged the public and media to avoid spreading unverified information, especially during heightened tensions between the two countries.

This clarification comes at a time of rising hostility across the India-Pakistan border, with both nations intensifying their military posturing and deploying high-level surveillance.
