Several parts of south, central and northwest India received rainfall in the past few days pushing the temperatures down, especially in Delhi and parts of Punjab and Haryana. However, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted dry weather in the northwest region of the country for the next few days, while the Southern states, including Kerala and Tamil Nadu, are likely to receive heavy showers.
On the other hand, there is a Low Pressure Area situated over the Southeast and adjoining East Central Arabian Sea, which is expected to intensify into a Well Marked Low Pressure Area in the East Central and adjacent Southeast Arabian Sea over the next 24 hours. Subsequently, it is likely to develop into a Depression over the Central Arabian Sea around the 21st of October.
Additionally, another Low Pressure Area is anticipated to form over the central regions of the Bay of Bengal around the 20th of October. No significant weather over the remaining parts of the country during the next five days.
Mumbai logs hottest day of month at 36.4 degrees Celsius
Mumbai experienced unusually high temperatures in October, with the maximum temperature reaching 36.4 degrees Celsius on Wednesday. The Indian Meteorological Department’s Santacruz observatory, responsible for monitoring weather conditions in Mumbai’s suburbs, reported this significant increase in temperature. According to IMD scientist Sushma Nair, this was the highest temperature recorded in October this season.
Yellow alert issued in Kerala, Tamil Nadu
Rains persisted in Kerala on Wednesday, prompting the IMD to issue a yellow alert in various districts of Kerala and Tamil Nadu. The forecast includes thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds reaching speeds of 30-40 kilometers per hour at isolated locations until Friday.
Odisha likely to witness a wet Dussehra
Odisha is expected to have a damp Dussehra due to a developing low-pressure system in the Bay of Bengal. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted rain for October 23 and 24. H R Biswas, the director of the regional meteorological center, mentioned that light to moderate rainfall would affect certain districts until October 19, with dry conditions prevailing across the state from October 20 to 23. Subsequently, some coastal areas of Odisha are likely to experience rain on October 23 and 24.
