Haryana’s Nayab Singh Saini government on Wednesday announced 10 per cent reservation for Agniveers. Addressing the media, Haryana Chief Minister said that the 10 per cent quota for Agniveers will be applicable in the direct recruitment of mining guards, constables, forest guards, SPO and jail warden. Saini said that the state government will give a relaxation of 3 years in the age criteria for Group B and Group C postings.

Since this would be the first batch of Agniveers seeking job quota, the age relaxation has been decided at 5 years, Saini added. The Wednesday announcement also include 5 per cent flat reservation for Agniveers in Group C recruitments and 1 per cent horizontal quota for Group B jobs.

To incentivise the recruitment of Agniveers, Saini said that in case an Agniveer is hired for a monthly salary of Rs 30,000, the state government will give Rs 60,000 as subsidy to the industrial setup.

Back in 2022, the Narendra Modi government had announced the Agnipath scheme. Under the programme, youth between 17-and-a-half years of age to those aged twenty-one were recruited as soldiers for four years.
