Haryana-cadre IAS officer Yash Jaluka, currently serving as the SDM of the Naraingarh in Ambala district, was chased by suspected goons and an attempt made to hit his car as he was out to inspect illegal mining in the area, police said.
According to an FIR filed under charges of attempt to murder on Friday, Jaluka, along with local tehsildar Abhishek Pilania, had left his Naraingarh residence in a private vehicle to inspect illegal mining in the area at 1 am on March 28.
“An Innova car started following the vehicle. When an attempt was made to flag down the Innova, its driver tried to hit the SDM’s vehicle. Then, the officers followed the Innova car. When its driver was called, he again tried to hit the SDM’s vehicle,” said Constable Jasbir Singh, the SDM’s PSO who was accompanying the officer.
As per the FIR, registered on a complaint filed by Singh, the driver of the Innova car was called later and he apologised for the incident. The Indian Express cited police sources as saying that the person was possibly engaged in the mining business in the area and had been sharing the location of the officers in the WhatsApp groups of the persons engaged in mining.
According to Naraingarh police station SHO Rampal Singh, police received a complaint on April 5 and an FIR was subsequently registered the next day. The incident relates to March 28. However, the complaint was filed on April 5 after verifying the details.
