AAP Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha said that AAP and Congress are working to form an alliance for the upcoming Haryana state elections on Sunday. Both parties are focusing on putting aside their individual goals to create a unified front, he said.

Chadha stated that although the talks are moving in a positive direction, the final decision on the alliance will depend on reaching a fair deal for both sides. AAP is asking for 10 seats, while Congress is offering seven. The last day to file nominations is September 12, and the election will take place on October 5.

Chadha explained that the discussions are ongoing, and both parties are hopeful for a good outcome. He noted that if the negotiations do not lead to a mutually beneficial arrangement, AAP might decide to withdraw from the alliance. He declined to provide specific details about the seat-sharing talks but assured that a decision will be made before the nomination deadline.

Previously, Congress and AAP have worked together in some elections but have also contested separately in different states. In Haryana, AAP’s state president, Sushil Gupta, had run independently in the last Lok Sabha elections but has now expressed readiness to contest all 90 assembly seats, whether as part of an alliance or alone.

In Haryana, AAP state president Sushil Gupta was the lone party candidate in the Lok Sabha polls in the state. He lost to BJP’s Naveen Jindal.Gupta recently asserted that the AAP is ready to strongly contest on all the 90 assembly seats in Haryana on its own “with an alliance with the people of the state”.
