Gurugram waterlogging: Residents of Gurugram call the millennium city an “urban disaster” after the waterlogged wonder brings life to a halt. With cars nearly submerged and footpaths underwater, rain continues to lash NCR as of this morning. As the Indian Meteorological issued an orange alert for Delhi NCR, the Deputy Commissioner’s office of Gurugram rolled out a “work from home” advisory.
“All corporate offices and private institutions in the district are advised to allow employees to work from home on 10.07.2025 to help reduce traffic congestion and ensure public safety,” said the notice.

Traffic snarls at the office rush that pours into the skyscraper landscape of Gurugram. However, the roads tell a different story as an orange alert quickly turned red. Torrential rain, thunderstorms, and lightning hit Delhi NCR in the late evening of July 9. The overnight downpour blocked several roads as “GurgaonRains” became a mockery on social media.
“We don’t need Disneyland…”
Users shared visuals from “multi-crore houses with basement pools” as rainwater flooded their homes. Exposing the city’s drainage system, the monsoon disrupted life like an annual occurrence. Netizens were calling the waterlogged roads “Venice” and mocked the upcoming Disneyland in Gurugram speculations.

Another resident, stuck in the waterlogged roads, opined that Gurugram “doesn’t need a Disneyland, what it needs is proper civic infrastructure, proper drainage, pothole free roads, basic urban planning, no water logging. Every year just 1 rain and the city is exposed”.
