Gurmeet Ram Rahim verdict: Dera Sacha Sauda chief was on Monday awarded 10 years imprisonment by special CBI Court judge who was found guilty of rape. Earlier, special CBI judge Jagdeep Singh reached Rohtak’s Sonaria jail in a helicopter for the announcement of quantum of sentence. Dera Chief’s case is being represented by senior lawyer SK Narwana.  Earlier, around 25 petrol explosives and 20 chilli powder explosives as well as sharp weapons were seized by police from dera supporters in Malot, according to India Today. It was also reported by ABP TV 2 cars were torched by Dera supporters in Sirsa ahead of announcement of jail term. Here are 10 things which happened inside the court where Baba was seen crying piteously:

1) Special CBI judge Jagdeep Singh, who was flown to the jail in makeshift court, allotted 10 minutes each to both sides to put forth their arguments.

2) Ram Rahim Singh’s lawyer argued that Dera Chief is a social worker who has worked for the welfare of people, so the judge should take a lenient view.

3) Prosecution, represented by CBI lawyer, demanded maximum punishment for Ram Rahim.

4) Defence sought mercy on health grounds: Ram Rahim Singh’s lawyer also sought lesser punishment on health grounds, various media organisations reported.

5) Defence asked the court to consider age factor: Ram Rahim Singh’ lawyer argued that Dera chief has health issues, therefore he should be awarded lesser sentence.

6) Baba cries in court: Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh wept inside the court room while the judge was hearing arguments from both the sides, ABP news reports.

7) Ram Rahim walked in side court with white turban: The Dera chief donned a white turban on his head when he walked inside the court, ABP news reports.

8) Ram Rahim pleads for mercy: The Dera chief kept weeping and pleaded mercy from the judges, CNN-News 18 reports.

9) Ram Rahim Singh lawyer demands shift of jail: The defence pleaded for the shift of jail for Dera Chief, CNN News 18 reported.
