Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath has already signaled several times that women protection is high on his list of priorities. In his latest, he visited the 2008 gang rape and acid attack victim in Lucknow’s KGMU Hospital.
Earlier, the anti-Romeo squads got cracking in various places. All these gestures thought may seem symbolic will definitely have an impact on women empowerment. The visit by him to the hospital will give a message to the cops that they have to be more careful about women complaints. The cops will have to take women protection seriously. Besides, this the anti-Romeo squads will keep a watch on all miscreants.
While all women are mothers and sisters to him, this was much needed in the state of Uttar Pradesh as the National Commission for Women (NCW) in its 2016 report has claimed that Uttar Pradesh has the highest number of criminal cases against women.
In a patriarchal society like Uttar Pradesh, cruelty by husband and relatives, accounts for almost for 34 percent of cases, rising 6 percent over the last four years, from 106,527 cases in 2012 to 113,403 in 2015.Assault on women accounted for a quarter of cases last year, increasing 82 percent since 2012.

Perhaps, the number of cases is rising because it means women are refusing to suffer in silence. And if they get a boost from the state agencies they may be able to rise against this malaise.
Yogi Adityanath knows how to respect women and wants to perpetuate that culture of respect for the class. In his first few initiatives, he has proved that women safety and protection is very important for him.
