Trouble continues to mount for Congress MPs Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi as the Delhi Police’s Economic Offences Wing (EOW) has filed a new FIR in the National Herald Case. A total of six names are mentioned in the FIR, including Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi.

The FIR was registered after the ED headquarters filed a complaint with the EOW.

BJP minister targets Gandhi family

Speaking on the development, Rajasthan State Minister Rajyavardhan Rathod said that if people would deep dive into the case, they would find that shares of the company were transferred to many countries.

“If you delve deeper into the National Herald case, you will see how the shares of the company got transferred, how money was brought back after a round trip to many countries. The ownership of that money came to members of a specific family,” he said.

“This is fraud, and when fraud is committed by the common man, it is duly investigated. The law is no different for this family. They should be properly investigated as well… Any decision should be taken as per the law. Why are they running away from it?…” he added.

BJP National Spokesperson RP Singh mentioned that when the Enforcement Directorate (ED) files a case, its follow-up is normally carried out by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) as part of standard procedure. “This is a 2013 case that the ED was following up on. Now, since the court has taken cognisance of the charge sheet, the EOW has initiated action….”

‘Mischievous politics of harassment’: Congress on FIR

Reacting to the FIR, Congress said the “Modi-Shah duo” is continuing with its mischievous politics of harassment, intimidation, and vendetta against the party’s top leadership.

Congress leader Udit Raj called the FIR “fake”, and added that the National Herald newspaper was founded during India’s independence movement.

“The BJP has built tall buildings for itself, whereas the Congress could hardly build its own office and could not save its newspaper from going into loss. For the salaries and pensions of National Herald employees, the Congress had given about Rs 90 to Rs 100 crore. I think this is a fake case intended to trap Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi…” he added.

Party’s INDIA ally, Uddhav Sena leader Priyanka Chaturvedi opined the FIR is “politically motivated” and there’s no truth in it.
