Bihar assembly election 2025: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday slammed the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) for knocking the door of election commission against the transfer of Rs 10,000 in the accounts of Jeevika Didis. Addressing a rally in Darbhanga, he said that RJD reached out to ECI to “snatch” this amount from Jeevika Didis (women associated with Self-Help Groups under the Jeevika program).

“Recently, Modi ji and Nitish Kumar ji have transferred over Rs 1 crore (Rs 10,000 each) into the bank accounts of Jeevika Didis. But what’s shocking is that the RJD has written to the Election Commission of India to take back this amount from them,” he said.

“I want to tell Jeevika Didis that forget Lalu and Tejashwi, even if their past three generations come, they would not be able to take this Rs 10,000 from them,” he added.

What is the scheme?

The transfer was made as part of the scheme of the NDA government at the Centre under the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rozgar Yojana (Chief Minister Women Employment Scheme). As per the policy, ₹10,000 was transferred into the bank accounts of over one crore “Jeevika Didis” to help them start self-employment ventures.

But the RJD has questioned the timing of the transfer. It complained to the poll panel and the official handle of the party also shared the letter on X with the caption, “With the permission of the Election Commission, the Bihar government is giving women a loan in the form of a 10 thousand bribe during the elections.”

The party has objected to the transfer of money right before polling, calling it a violation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC).

Shah sharpens attack on Mahagathbandhan

Meanwhile, the Union Home Minister targeted the RJD era stating that both Lalu Prasad and Rabri Yadav together ruled Bihar for 15 years, but did nothing for the state.

“Lalu and Rabri want to make their son the CM, and Sonia Gandhi wants to make her son the Prime Minister. I want to tell them that neither Lalu ji’s son will become CM nor Sonia Gandhi’s son will become the PM. There is no vacancy for these people,” he said.

Outlining the vision of the NDA, he promised to construct Kaushal Vikas Kendras (skill centre) in every district in the state.

“Every district will get a new factory, and 10 new industrial parks will be constructed in the state. Like UP and Tamil Nadu, we will establish a defence corridor in Bihar.” Speaking about proposed development projects in Bihar’s Darbhanga, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said, “A majestic Sita Mata Temple worth Rs 850 crore is being built in Punaura Dham. As soon as the temple construction is completed, we will connect Ayodhya and Sitamarhi by Vande Bharat trains….” he said.

Bihar will vote for the first phase on Nov 6 and second phase on Nov 11. The results will be declared on Nov 14.
