Pahalgam Terror Attack: The tragic death of Indian Navy officer Lieutenant Vinay Narwal in the Pahalgam terror attack has brought in a wave of grief and calls for decisive action against terrorism. Nawal, who was from Haryana’s Karnal, was on leave. He went to visit Jammu and Kashmir along with his wife, when terrorists opened fire on tourists in Pahalgam on Tuesday, in which 26 people lost their lives.
Lt.Narwal had recently celebrated his wedding anniversary on April 16, just four days before the attack. While speaking to the reporters, his grandfather, Hawa Singh, stated, ”We request the government to punish the attackers strictly. Terrorism must be eradicated by any means necessary”, as quoted by ANI.
Neighbours in Karnal are still in shock at the untimely loss of the young officer; they recalled their recent wedding and showed disbelief that such a tragedy could happen so soon.

Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi expressed condolences, stating that the Navy was ‘’shocked and deeply saddened’’ by the loss. In a post on X, the Indian Navy posted, ”We extend our heartfelt condolences to Lt Narwal’s family. The Navy stands in solemn solidarity with all victims of this heinous act.”
According to the ANI report, Haryana MLA Jagmohan Anand visited the affected family, terming the incident as ”unforgivable” and requested the government to take action against Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), stating, ”PoK must be integrated with India. This country must know it has a capable government.”
Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini also condemned the attack, terming it ”extremely unfortunate” and gave assurance to the families of the victims that the state stands with them. ”Strict action must be taken so one dares to repeat such violence, ”he added.
State officials gathered to inspect the arrangements for transporting the bodies of the victims, as coffins arrived at Srinagar airport. Security officials have escalated the operations to find the attackers. Meanwhile, Jammu has been shut down, and the streets in Pahalgam have become deserted. This attack has become one of the most severe attacks since the abrogation of Article 370 took place in 2019.
