Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal hit back at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, criticising them over the deteriorating law and order situation in Delhi, particularly the activities of gangsters.

Kejriwal suggested that Adityanath, who claims to have eliminated gangsters in Uttar Pradesh, should offer guidance to Union Home Minister Amit Shah on addressing the issue in Delhi. The Delhi Police operates under the Ministry of Home Affairs.

“Yogi has rightly pointed out the law and order situation in Delhi. Gangsters are openly extorting businessmen and threatening them to give Rs 3-4 crores. Women feel unsafe, and violent crimes such as chain snatching and dacoity are rampant,” he said.

“I appeal to CM Yogi to sit with Amit Shah and give him pro tips and guide on how to fix the deteriorating law and order situation in Delhi,” the former Delhi CM said at the press conference.

Kejriwal urged Adityanath to work with Shah to tackle the growing lawlessness. “If Yogi has successfully tackled gangster raj in Uttar Pradesh, he should guide Amit Shah on how to do the same in Delhi,” Kejriwal added.

Further, Kejriwal also accused the BJP of politicising his security arrangements. A day after Punjab Police personnel assigned to his protection were withdrawn, Kejriwal expressed regret over the move, calling it “pure politics.” He claimed that his car was attacked on Thursday by supporters of a rival candidate, allegedly with the tacit approval of Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The Delhi Police has denied these allegations.

Punjab Police clarified that the security withdrawal followed directions from the Delhi Police and the Election Commission.
