The counting of votes for the Delhi Assembly Elections 2025 is set to begin at 7 AM on Saturday, February 8. The high-stakes election will decide whether the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) secures a fourth consecutive term or if the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) stages a comeback after 27 years. The Congress, which failed to win any seats in the last two elections, is hoping to make some gains this time.
This year’s election saw a fierce three-way battle between AAP, BJP, and Congress, with 699 candidates contesting across 70 constituencies. The final voter turnout stood at 60.42 per cent, as per the Election Commission.
Exit Polls Predict BJP Surge
Exit polls released on Wednesday indicate a strong performance by the BJP, suggesting that the party might secure a majority. AAP, which had a landslide victory in 2020, is expected to lose significant ground. Meanwhile, Congress is projected to win 1-2 seats.
