A Delhi court has issued a summons against famous YouTuber Dhruv Rathee in response to a defamation lawsuit filed by Mumbai BJP leader Suresh Karamshi Nakhua.
Nakhua claims Rathee defamed him in a recent video by labeling him a “violent and abusive” troll. On July 7, Rathee uploaded a video titled “My Reply to Godi YouTubers | Elvish Yadav | Dhruv Rathee” on his YouTube channel.

In response, Nakhua, a BJP spokesperson from Mumbai, accused Rathee of terming him as a “violent and abusive troll” without justification. Nakhua claims that these allegations have led to significant public condemnation and ridicule.
On July 19, District Judge Gunjan Gupta of the Saket Court issued a notice to Rathee in relation to Nakhua’s plea for interim relief. The court will address the matter on August 6.

“That the defendant No.1 (Dhruv Rathee), who in a highly provocative and incendiary video that spread like wildfire across digital platforms, made bold and unsubstantiated claims against the plaintiff (Nakhua). The insidious intent behind this video lies in its unfounded insinuation that the plaintiff is somehow linked to violent and abusive troll activities,” submitted the BJP spokesperson.
Nakhua alleged in his suit against Rathee that the YouTuber had sought to damage his reputation and “tarnish his hard-earned standing in society” by spreading false information, planting seeds of suspicion and mistrust that could have long-lasting consequences. He also claimed that the repercussions of such allegations could leave deep-seated scars that may never fully heal.
