The low-pressure depression is forecast to strengthen into a deep depression on October 26 before maturing into a cyclonic storm over the southwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal.

According to IMD weather bulletin from October 25 onward, moderate to heavy downpours are likely to take place over Tamil Nadu, Rayalaseema, Puducherry and Coastal Andhra Pradesh as the system progresses. Extremely heavy rains are predicted in isolated places of Coastal Andhra Pradesh on October 27 and October 28.

Odisha is on high alert

Meanwhile, Odisha authorities are on high alert ahead of the approaching cyclonic storm, as reported by ANI.
