A shocking incident of a 6-year-old student being beaten allegedly took place on February 17 at Nagar Nigam School, Shri Ram Colony. The case came to light after a PCR call was made on February 18, prompting authorities to take action. The student, a Class 1 pupil, was medically examined at JPC Hospital, where doctors found internal bleeding in the ear but no external injuries, according to Delhi Police, as reported by ANI.

Despite the serious injuries, the child’s mother initially refrained from filing a complaint, citing the absence of the father, who had travelled to his native place in Bihar. However, Delhi Police proceeded with registering an offence under section 115 (2) of the BNS and section 75 of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015.

“An incident of beating a 6-year-old student of Class 1 took place on February 17 at Nagar Nigam School, Shri Ram Colony. The incident was reported through a PCR call on February 18. The student was medically examined at JPC Hospital and it was found that the child had internal bleeding in the ear but there were no external injuries. The child’s mother did not lodge any complaint with the police on the pretext that the child’s father had gone to his native place in Bihar.  An offence has been registered under section 115 (2) BNS and section 75 of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015 and a case is being registered accordingly,” states Delhi Police.

Meanwhile, according to Indian Express, the school in Shri Ram Colony, run by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, claimed that the child was never on their rolls. However, the attendance register indicates that both the six-year-old and his brother were enrolled at the school on December 6, 2024.

The Director of Education stated that while a child with the same name is listed, the father’s name does not match. “We have formed an inquiry committee to dig deeper into the incident and to check if the school authorities are hiding something,” adds the Director of Education.
