Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) Chief Mayawati on Friday fired back at Samajwadi Party (SP) Chief Akhilesh Yadav, questioning the credibility of his explanation for the alliance break-up in 2019 and challenging his claims about the differences between their parties.
Mayawati responded to Akhilesh Yadav’s remarks, in which he claimed she was using allegations as a cover for her own failures. On Thursday, Yadav, alleged that Mayawati was making accusations to deflect from her shortcomings.

This statement followed Mayawati’s release of a booklet, where she claimed that the alliance fell apart because Yadav had ceased responding to calls from BSP leaders after their joint campaign’s disappointing performance.
In a booklet, Mayawati revealed that she ended the alliance to safeguard her party’s honour. The SP and BSP had teamed up for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, but their joint effort yielded only 15 seats: Mayawati won 10, while Akhilesh Yadav secured five in Uttar Pradesh.

“In UP, to stop BJP, Akhilesh Yadav, forgetting all the past mistakes of his party, talked of giving them another chance to form an alliance. But in the result of this election, BSP got 10 seats and SP got 5 because of this maintaining the alliance was a far-away thing but Akhilesh Yadav stopped taking up calls from BSP chief and Senior party leaders. Because of this, to preserve the honour of the party, we have to break the alliance with SP.” Mayawati stated in the booklet.
Mayawati also claimed that in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the SP and Congress alliance achieved success by ‘misleading’ the people of PDA (Pichhda, Dalit, and Alpasankhyak).

She stated in the booklet that this time, they have achieved considerable success by aligning with the Congress and misleading the PDA community under the guise of protecting the Constitution and reservation. However, the PDA community will not benefit from this. Therefore, they must now be cautious of the SP.
The BSP has released a booklet aimed at informing party workers about the party’s ideology and strategy for the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. The booklet outlines the reasons behind the significant decisions made by Mayawati.
