Lucid opens first international EV factory in Saudi Arabia

Electric-vehicle maker Lucid Group said on Wednesday it had opened its first international manufacturing plant in Saudi Arabia’s Jeddah city, under a deal designed to further the Middle Eastern country’s electrification push. Lucid announced plans for the Jeddah factory last year and said the kingdom had signed an agreement to buy up to 100,000 vehicles from the company over 10 years. (REUTERS)

Moody’s downgrades Vedanta Resources, outlook remains negative

Moody’s Investors Service has downgraded the rating of Vedanta Resources Ltd because of the elevated risk of debt restructuring over the next few months, as the firm has not made progress on refinancing its upcoming debt maturities. Moody’s said it has downgraded to Caa2 from Caa1, the corporate family rating (CFR) of Vedanta Resources Limited (VRL). (PTI)

Nine killed in explosion as children play with rocket shell in Pakistan’s Sindh

At least nine people, including five children, of the same family were killed on Wednesday when a rocket launcher’s shell exploded at a house when the kids were playing with the ammunition in Pakistan’s Sindh province, police said. (PTI)

Manipur govt extends AFSPA in state effective October 1

The Manipur government on Wednesday extended the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act (AFSPA) in the entire state, excluding the areas falling under the jurisdiction of the 19 Police Stations as “disturbed area” for a period of six months, effective from October 1. (READ MORE)

AMNS India’s Hazira project to be commissioned by 2026: Laxmi Mittal

ArcelorMittal executive chairman Lakshmi N Mittal on Wednesday expressed confidence that AMNS India’s Hazira project, which is under expansion, will be commissioned by 2026. In October last year, ArcelorMittal’s arm AMNS India had stated that it will invest Rs 60,000 crore to scale up capacity of its steel plant at Hazira to 15 million tonnes (MT). (PTI)
