RBI imposes Rs 2.5 crore penalty on L&T Finance
The Reserve Bank of India on Friday said a penalty of Rs 2.5 crore has been imposed on L&T Finance Ltd for non-compliance with certain norms concerning non-banking financial companies (NBFCs). After examination of reports following statutory inspection of the company, the RBI said it was revealed that the NBFC did not disclose to its retail borrowers, the gradation of risk and rationale for charging different interest rates to different categories of borrowers in the loan application form/sanction letter. Italy PM splits from partner after his sexist TV comments
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said on Friday she had separated from her television journalist partner Andrea Giambruno, who has drawn criticism in recent weeks for sexist comments made on and off air. “My relationship with Andrea Giambruno, which lasted almost 10 years, ends here,” Meloni wrote on her social media accounts. “Our paths have diverged for some time, and the time has come to acknowledge it,” she added. UK PM Rishi Sunak travels to Egypt for crisis talks
British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak will travel to Egypt on Friday as part of his Middle East tour for crisis talks to prevent the Israel-Gaza conflict spilling over across the region. Govt authorities to pay Rs 30 lakh compensation to families of those who die while cleaning sewers: SC
Taking a grim view of incidents of sewer deaths in the country, the Supreme Court on Friday said government authorities will have to pay Rs 30 lakh as compensation to the kin of those who die while cleaning sewers. A bench comprising Justices S Ravindra Bhat and Aravind Kumar said those who suffer permanent disabilities while cleaning sewers will be paid Rs 20 lakh as minimum compensation. (Read More)
Rahul Gandhi to address poll rally in Telangana’s Armoor
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, currently on the campaign trail in Telangana, will address a public rally at Armoor on Friday before leaving for the national capital ending his three-day visit, party sources said. Adani group closes in on $3.5 billion loan, among Asia’s biggest: Bloomberg
Billionaire Gautam Adani-controlled Adani Group is closing in on a $3.5 billion loan to refinance existing debt that was taken out to fund the purchase of Ambuja Cements Ltd., in what would be the latest sign of confidence among creditors in the conglomerate. The deal, which would be among the top 10 biggest loans in Asia this year, could be sealed this week, according to people familiar with matter, who asked not to be identified because the matter is private.
