Ban in construction sites of Delhi NCR

Man arrested in J-K’s Kishtwar after being on the run for 10 years
A man who had been evading arrest for the last 10 years in a criminal case was caught by police in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district on Thursday, officials said. Shabir Ahmed Malik, a resident of Bun Astan area in Kishtwar, was wanted in connection with a case registered in 2013 under Section 436 of the Ranbir Penal Code for his alleged involvement in use of explosive material to destroy a house besides assault and causing hurt, they said. SC reserves verdict on pleas challenging validity of electoral bonds scheme
The Supreme Court on Thursday reserved its verdict on a batch of petitions challenging the validity of the electoral bonds scheme for funding political parties. A five-judge constitution bench comprising Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud and Justices Sanjiv Khanna, B R Gavai, J B Pardiwala and Manoj Misra had on October 31 commenced hearing arguments on the four petitions, including those filed by Congress leader Jaya Thakur, the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and NGO Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR). Adani Power Q2 net jumps over nine-fold to Rs 6,594 cr
Adani Power’s consolidated profit jumped over nine-fold to Rs 6,594 crore in the September quarter of this year compared to the year ago, due higher one-time income, and deferred tax assets. “Consolidated Profit After Tax for Q2 FY24 (July-September) was higher by 848 per cent at Rs 6,594 crore vs Rs 696 crore for Q2 FY23; due to improved EBITDA, higher one-time income, and recognition of deferred tax asset,” a company statement said. Zurich Insurance to buy 51% stake in Kotak Mahindra Bank general insurance unit
Zurich Insurance Group will buy a 51% stake in Indian private lender Kotak Mahindra Bank’s general insurance unit for about 40.51 billion rupees ($487 million), the companies said on Thursday. The deal, on which Reuters had reported in June, will be the largest investment by a global insurer in an Indian non-life insurer. Zurich Insurance Co, a unit of one of Europe’s largest insurers, will buy an additional 19% stake in Kotak General Insurance within three years, the companies said. (Read More)
