Shiv Sena (Uddhav Thackeray) leader Aaditya Thackeray on Monday shared the newspaper advertisement of the BMC which said that the final roll of electors for the region will be available from today (Dec 15), and claimed that the same is actually not there on the website.
Sharing the newspaper ad on X, Thackeray alleged “vote chori” in the BMC electoral rolls, which the opposition has been maintaining for sometime now in the backdrop of the elections of the local body of Mumbai. The polls are likely to be announced by the state election commission early January next year after the court delivers the final order on reservation.
What did he say?
Aaditya Thackeray said that through the advertisement in newspapers, “the @mybmc has announced that the Final Roll for BMC elections have been published and will be available today at the central election office BMC”.
“However!! No Final Roll is available at the Central Election Office as of now.
Nothing has been uploaded on the websites either,” he added.
“After catching millions of their frauds and errors, the final roll will still not be machine readable. Why should the officer in charge of elections at the BMC not face charges of anti national activities, for such a fraud?” the leader said.
Asking why BMC wasted a day for all political parties and independents to go through the final roll of voters, he asked if the “the officer-in charge for elections in BMC is helping a particular party and not others?”.
Maharashtra local body polls
As many as 336 panchayat samitis, 29 municipal corporations, including the Mumbai civic body, 32 zilla parishads are due for elections before January 31. However, voting and counting dates are yet to be announced given the pending court case on reservation.
Of these, elections were held for the 264 municipal councils and nagar panchayats on December 3 and the result will go to polls on Dec 20. The results will be declared on Dec 21. After this, it is likely the state poll commission will begin the process for the BMC elections.
