Bikaner BJP Minority Morcha district president Usman Ghani, who stood up and voiced discontent with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent remarks on the Muslim community in Rajasthan, was expelled from the party for ‘tarnishing’ the party’s image on Wednesday.

Ghani, speaking to a news channel in New Delhi, predicted that the BJP would lose three to four Lok Sabha seats out of Rajasthan’s 25. He further rebuked PM Modi’s statement on the Muslim community while addressing election rallies in the state, PTI reported.

When questioned about PM Modi’s remarks on Muslims, Ghani, expressing displeasure, said that as a Muslim himself, he found the Prime Minister’s words disheartening. He mentioned that when he approaches Muslims to garner votes for the BJP, they inquire about the PM’s remarks and seek explanations from him.

Furthermore, Ghani said that the Jat community in the state is very angry with the BJP, as evidenced by their voting pattern in constituencies like Churu. Despite this, Ghani asserted that he is not afraid of any action the party might take against him for his statements.

After a video of him surfaced on social media, in which he is speaking to a news channel reporter, BJP state disciplinary committee chairman Onkar Singh Lakhawat stated that Usman Ghani attempted to ‘tarnish’ the party’s image in the media, PTI reported.

“The party took cognizance of the act of Usman Ghani to tarnish its image and expelled him from the primary membership of the party for six years, considering it a breach of discipline,” Lakhawat said in a statement.

The Bikaner Lok Sabha seat went to polls in the first phase on April 19.

While addressing a rally in Rajasthan’s Banswara, PM Modi on Sunday suggested that if the Congress comes to power, it would ‘redistribute’ wealth. He alleged that Congress plans to give the people’s hard-earned money and valuables to the ‘infiltrators’ and ‘those who have more children’.

Soon after, these remarks triggered a political slugfest between the BJP and the opposition, with the saffron party receiving backlash from several opposition parties.
