Bihar Elections: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav were seen riding a bike together during their ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ in Bihar on Sunday. However, signs of strain in their relationship appeared when Gandhi avoided a question related to Yadav for CM post.
At a joint press conference in Araria, Rahul Gandhi was asked if he supported Tejashwi Yadav as the Chief Ministerial candidate in Bihar. According to The Indian Express, Gandhi side-stepped the question and didn’t give a clear answer. The press briefing came during the ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra‘, that was launched by Rahul Gandhi to rally support against what the Opposition alleges is voter fraud under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Bihar electoral rolls.
Accusations Against BJP and Election Commission
Rahul Gandhi claimed that the yatra had received strong public support, showing that many people in Bihar agree with the Opposition’s charge of voter fraud. He once again, during the press conference, accused the BJP and the Election Commission of India of working together to remove genuine voters from the rolls, calling SIR an organised way of manipulating elections.
Gandhi further alleged that the Election Commission had failed to protect fair elections in states like Maharashtra, Haryana, and Karnataka. He said Congress and its allies would not allow such practices to happen in Bihar. Referring to Karnataka, Gandhi pointed out that when he raised concerns about fake voters in Mahadevapura, he was immediately asked to submit proof, while similar claims by BJP leaders did not face the same scrutiny.
RJD MLA Tej Pratap Yadav slams younger brother Tejashwi Yadav
Meanwhile, sacked RJD MLA Tej Pratap Yadav openly attacked his younger brother Tejashwi Yadav and Rahul Gandhi, questioning whether they truly connect with ordinary people. He commented that during elections, leaders focus only on their own interests. While Tejashwi and Rahul were busy with their yatra, he said he preferred to walk the small pathways of villages to stay close to the people.
