Bihar polls: Mahagathbandhan racing to finalise seat deal?
While the NDA is busy rolling out infrastructure projects in poll-bound Bihar, the opposition ‘Mahagathbandhan’ is rushing to finalise its seat-sharing deal, as per media reports. The grand alliance’s main parties, RJD and Congress, may have to give up at least a dozen seats each that they contested in 2020 to make room for new allies and balance the demands of smaller parties.
So yes, the negotiations are intense, with allies trying to show strength, but the final seat distribution is not going to happen overnight, but is expected only after detailed discussions on each seat. RJD and Congress face are facing the pressure to give up the seats, as smaller parties are demanding a bigger share.
Congress is holding internal meetings and has reportedly decided to field its sitting MLAs again. However, there are tensions within the party. Senior MP Tariq Ahmed skipped a Screening Committee meeting and posted on X that Congress workers are eagerly waiting for the candidate list, hoping that honest and dedicated grassroots workers will get priority this time.
